About Kovacs
In recent years, Sharon Kovacs has developed into one of the most distinctive and idiosyncratic voices within the Dutch music scene. Her breakthrough came with her debut album Shades of Black, which grew into a European success and earned her an international audience. The characteristic blend of dark soul, theatrical flair, and a powerful, lived-in voice forms the foundation of her oeuvre.
With its successor Cheap Smell, Kovacs presented one of her most personal and candid works, in which themes such as resilience and vulnerability took centre stage. In 2023, Child of Sin followed, recorded partly at the legendary RAK Studios in London, featuring a guest appearance by Till Lindemann and a striking role for Turkish Gypsy ensembles elements that further enriched and broadened her music.
